Service Description

**Please reach out to be put on a list for this class. We require 10 parents to launch class, 12 parent maximum enrollment. Each group is 75 minutes. Parenting is hard. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can help you learn how to take a pause, manage emotions, be present, and make meaningful connections with your kids. When parents learn these skills, we can teach them to our kids to help them navigate the world in more satisfying ways. This class is a great compliment to the Teen DBT class, so that parents and teens can be working simultaneously to build similar skills, and practice them together at home. This is a 12 week class. We will work on emotional regulation, which is a key to effective parenting by modeling healthy coping mechanisms. Learn how to take a pause, be present, and self care. We will explore how to identify and accept feelings. We will investigate how to acknowledge our kids' perspectives and feelings to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages open communication and mutual respect. This openness can help defuse power struggles and tension. We will practice asking, listening and reflecting communication approaches to expand how we connect with our kids. Please send questions to Dr. Heather Corwin (DrC@GardenHealthGroup.com) to learn more or to be put on list of those interested in attending the class.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel or reschedule, please contact us 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment to receive a full credit for a future session, we do not offer refunds. If less than 24 hours notice for cancelation, you will be responsible for the session fee in full. You agree that you are responsible to pay for 10 of the 12 sessions, even if you are unable to attend. Attendance policy. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late with no email to the therapist, the session may be considered a no show and you will be responsible for the full session fee, and you may not be allowed into the group for that class. We ask that you be on time to foster trust within the group. A pattern of tardiness will require a discussion with the group leader and a strategy will be created to avoid the issue in the future. You are responsible for 10 of 12 class fees, even if you leave the group of your own choice or by forfeiting your place in the group due to the attendance policy.
